A Knight of the Void

So this was when I saw the movie “Gravity” and Sandra Bullock, as the astronaut Dr. Ryan Stone, gets stuck in space following a tragedy, with no way back home. The International Space Station destroyed by floating debris, and her crewmates killed, the scene brought to my mind the word “despair” that I probably hadn't encountered since Ozymandias in 9th grade. Stories have rarely made me feel what this one did and now I look out for the theme of extreme adversity when picking a movie or book. Later I would go on to see another wonderful piece of space fiction “Passengers” where Chris Pratt finds himself living the loneliest existence a human could, and “Cast Away” where Tom Hanks lives it out in the middle of the Pacific, and each time I was reminded of Ryan's plight. However, over ether or water, each of these stories end on happy notes. All protagonists find their destiny. I hope you, the reader, find yours too.
Do paint yourself a picture in mind, as Alfonso Cuarón did when writing the story for Gravity:
“I had this image of an astronaut spinning into space away from human communication.”
